30 Million people in America do not have health insurance coverage, and 15 million of those individuals are people of color. In Maine specifically, 8% of residents do not have coverage. Insurance is often the factor which predicts a person's ability to seek mental health treatment and to effectively address adverse experiences, patterns, and feelings. As of 2019, non-elderly AIAN, Hispanic, NHOPI, and Black people remained more likely to lack health insurance than their white counterparts. This is systemic racism.

For peer-to-peer professional services, consultation, and group supervision provided by PTR, there is an access fee that is held separately by the practice to reimburse its providers for no-cost services for BIPOC Mainers who are under-insured, or do not have access to health insurance.

For every $80 dollars that is contributed to the PTR Access Fund, it funds one therapy session.

$65

Directly Paid to Clinician

This fee, normally about half of what the self pay rate is for a session, covers the clinician’s time fairly. We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality trauma therapists.

$5

Practice Admin Fees

This fee covers the administrative time of progress notes and treatment planning for the client.

$10

Office Space & Utilities

Our office space in Freeport requires funds from each session to cover the cost of our lease, electricity, phone, internet, etc.

Contribute to the Access Fund

Our professional peer-to-peer services largely fund the Access Fund, but we warmly welcome individual contributions. Our clinicians will be paid the market rate through the fund for their therapeutic services. We are not able to issue tax-exempt charitable donation receipts, as we are not a charity. Think of it as paying for another person’s coffee, except it changes lives.
